sidewalk          skipping          friends
pigtails            polyester innocence

hold
your delicate
little world
in your jumper
pocket
to show it off

eyes     turn green       
turn      pirouettes
180 degrees

hearts enough
for all of them
can be made
by pulling it apart

run       sharp snatching           painted
fingernails

gaining
try to heave
it over
tall iron fence

they grab it                              midair

left to die
a few small deaths.
a hell of an open wound
all you have
to show off now

someday
find them
and set their manufactured
hearts                                       on fire
