I baited him
before I knew better,
then he begged me
to stay.
Trust was tested,
patience battered. I cowered
like a sheep wary
of the sheers,
afraid to be so naked
and chilled.
I waited for him
to refill
the deep bucket
he spilled.
My pieces strewn around,
gathered and replaced,
but always knocked over
again.
